Does New Orleans need another classic cocktail?
Well, whether it does or not, it may now have one.
Hadi Ktiri, the beverage director at the Four Seasons hotel on Canal Street, has tucked among the classic NOLA drinks on the Chandelier Bar’s drinks menu something called the Cocktail Orléans.
The name sounds classic. Could it be a forgotten 19th-century New Orleans cocktail, something from the pages of Stanley Clisby Arthur’s Famous New Orleans Drinks and How to Mix ‘Em that I hadn’t noticed before? Those things seem to crop up every few years or so. Except that the Cocktail Orléans is in the “Modern” section of the menu.
Turns out it’s a new mashup of three old cocktails.
