We’ve had a great first year over here at “The Mix.” Our eclectic, unique and far-flung reportage on everything from cocktails to hot dogs, regional culture to regional cuisine, contemporary travelogues to travel memories, tributes and interviews, examinations of New York history to yarns of personal history have taken us far and wide, both geographically and imagination-wise. We’ve reported from San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Detroit, Boston, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Washington D.C., New Jersey, Scranton, Binghamton, Lake George and even did a little international reported, posting from Rome, Naples and the island of Ischia! (Look out for reports from Madrid, Barcelona and Milan in the near future.)
There have been cocktail recipes galore; audio Field Reports aplenty; Postcards from every time zone; and enough Odds and Ends to fill your calendar ten times over. We even squeezed in some actual breaking news in there. (We plan to do more of that.) All this was accomplished with an indefatigable staff of two, a couple ever-busy iPhones, one overworked laptop and a trusty little vehicle named Winston. We’re a mom and pop enterprise over here, and we hope you appreciate the independent and spirited voice we bring to this space.
We’re excited about what 2023 will bring about at “The Mix,” and we’d love to have you along for the ride. With that in mind, this newsletter is offering its first-ever subscription special. Act before Dec. 31 and you will receive a 20% discount on all monthly, annual and Bar Regular subscriptions. For just $40—about the price of a week’s worth of coffees—you will receive every post The Mix puts out over the course of twelve months. That’s easily more than one hundred stories and thousands of original words. All accompanied by some pretty nifty original photography.
So click on the button up top and seize the day. “The Mix” really is the gift that keeps on giving. It really is. It’s kind of relentless, actually. In a good way.
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
