This was a great trip. I loved just how many people went to eat hot dogs in Plattsburgh. It’s a real hot dog town... now you have to find out where Eula is buried so we can go pay our respects.
As an English person living in Australia I’m totally in awe of your hotdog world in the us …. I call this sloppy joes in our house and if we go camping they are always on the menu for thr 1st night. I make up the mince topping at home and bring it to be warmed up … franks are put on the bbq as are the buns and we have squirty American mustard on top ….. you properly dying a little bit inside !!! Lol.
What an excellent trip and report, thank you! I suspect if you lived in Texas you'd be all over fruit and meat kolaches with similar verve and panache.
Really enjoyed this, love hot dogs and my readers have been weighing in all summer with their favorites, the Coney Island from Detroit was mentioned, adding the Michigan-Plattsburgh to the list.

I suspect Eula must have remarried and taken a new surname and that's the reason she's hard to track down.
I guess, but she had a lot to do with spreading the Michigan love. I bet you can find her.

Sounds delicious.
Great reporting! Looking forward to getting up there for some Michigans in the fall. Any suggested cocktails to pair or is beer best? 🙂
Beer is best but none of these places serve alcohol.

Thanks!
This makes me want to go on my own hot dog road trip! We spend way too much time stuck within the confines of NYC…
Also — servers who don’t eat the hot dogs? How do they resist??
They must have more willpower than I do!
Those cheery smiles conceal iron wills, apparently X^D
Also, oddly enough, I had Bob Seger on repeat this past Friday….must’ve been something in the air…
The same type of hot dogs are popular in Pittsfield, MA (in the Berkshires), with rivalry between the Hot Dog Ranch and Teo’s.
Those are mini-hot dogs, correct? Like the ones found in Troy and Albany. The Plattsburgh hot dogs are full-size.
Yes, they do mini, but same toppings.
Excellent hot dog reporting as usual! 🌭
The Mix's discerning subscribers deserve no less!
You must have a cast iron stomach. Killer 🧅!
We pace ourselves and we don't all of every dog. Then we recover for a week with salads and veggies.
Late arriving to this post Robert and Mary Kate but terrific writing and reporting!
Love the hot dog history! Looks so good too.
Only a matter of time until that hockey-playing hot dog sign is hanging in your apartment.
