This was a great column. I remember Luchow's from the Playbills of my girlhood but no one ever took me there and then it closed. I think they may have advertised on local TV as well. Seems like a great project for chilly winter Sunday and will try to remember to try this then. Which butcher did you go to that wouldn't pound?
For a short time, Luchow's had a second location in the Times Square area. It lasted a couple years after the original closed, but never caught on. I don't like to say the name of the butch that didn't follow the job through, because otherwise they are a very good butcher. I'll just say it's not far from Staubitz.
May have been the Times Square location that had the TV ads. I usually go to Dellapietras on Atlantic, but Staubitz is my back up. This area is spoiled when it comes to butchers
I was exhausted after the shopping list. I’d never make it to actually cooking it…but I’m pretty sure my grandma made something like this for Christmas, long ago…
Wonderful new feature. Great column and looking forward to the next instalment.
Thank you Lee!
Whoa!😍
I love this new column. The roulades look delicious and I can't wait to see what else you'll be making.
Yay! I bet you have some amazing old restaurant’s recipes! We should talk!
It was so good!
Thanks for being our guest!

It was quite the marketing expedition. But we already had half of the ingredients in the kitchen.
We are emboldened by this and already looking for the next one—there is a feeling of satisfaction I cannot describe!
