Very interesting to learn about the difference between chili and meat sauce. I would love to know more about meat sauce - perhaps you could write a post on the various regional variations (if you haven't already done so).
I had the Simonson dog tonight at PDT. I'm not a big fan of dogs with meat sauce, but your dog was really well balanced and delicious. Full disclosure, my opinion may have been swayed by my Blanton's Old Fashioned or two, but probably not.
Sounds absolutely delicious! Adina and I may have to venture to NYC asap and try one! Was in Germany (Dusseldorf) the past week, and many great hot dogs were enjoyed- German style with the requisite horseradish mustard and freeze-dried onions.
