And isnβt there a bar at the 1/2 way point inside a grocery store?β
Looked for the grocery one and couldnβt find it but did come up with The Franklin, which is in an old grocery, but mainly suggesting this because itβs 3 blocks from our hotel and has a $6 happy hour Martini!!! Has anyone been there?
So nice to see Abigail Gullo's name and work here. She was my student in the theater program at George Mason University back in the day, and very talented in that realm as well!
LOVE HER - I remember when she tended bar at Bacco - the restaurant that used to be in the W New Orleans on Chartres. I think she also did a stint at Compere Lapin (another awesome bar in an awesome restaurant)
My absolute favorite dive bar anywhere in the world is Bar Redux, a stoneβs throw from Bacchanal and Vaughanβs. A great cast of characters, ice cold beers and a greasy burger make for the perfect evening. Slightly punk vibes, always a fun time.
As a New Orleanian who loves cocktails - this is a GREAT list. You might also consider Bouligny Tavern on Magazine and the Delachaise on St. Charles. I always encourage visitors to spend some time but not all their time in the Quarter.
We have our work cut out for us next week, but we are up to the challenge, Iβm sure! πΊπ·πΈπΉπ₯π₯
With only 48 hours to work with, we'll have to pare down which favorites we want to revisit.
A Mix Reader just texted me and said βHey
Why isnt IGORβS on your list!?
Just kidding. But you can do your laundry there

There are so many good bars near our hotel this year.
I know. Crazy.
I'd like to see more NYC bars give away free hot food to their customers the way NOLA neighborhood bars do.
It was so common when we were young. I love the story about you and the free mussels. Lolz
Excellent list. Many that I love, and some I've never even heard of. Chart Room: great call!
Hit Parasol's uptown in the Irish Channel if you get a chance. And go hungry...
Thanks for the rec!

I did not know of that chapter of her life. But I'm not surprised. She always brings a theatricality to any bar where she works.

I still think about Cure and itβs been years since I was there
It is a memorable bar.

We will have to try that place.

Thank you for the recommendations!
Thanks for putting together the list! A lot of great bars on there. Enjoy TOTC!
Saving this guide for my next visit to the Big Easy.
Great!
I love this list, thank you! Will save it and share it.
Thank you! Please do.
Cosimoβs deserves a mention. Itβs a great neighborhood bar in the French Quarter. Great Hospitality. And a beautiful bar.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Great list. Thank you for pointing me toward Revel many years ago. Itβs become a must visit on every return trip. π₯
It's a bar that needs pointing out, so distant is it from the city center. But worth the trip!
If you make it back this month, stop in at Porgyβs for their Muffulettu β just down the street!
Nice affirmative roundup. There are a few here Iβd like to hit one of these days.
I'm sure they'll be there when you get around to it. New Orleans bars tend to stick around a long time.
Thank you. Wonderful list (I've hit 30 out of 40), but I'm surprised not to see The Will & The Way on it.
75%! That's impressive.
For a moment, I thought Fives was Maison Premiere.Β Have a great time & cheers!
There are similarities btw the two.
